Orto Botanico di Firenzo

The Orto Botanico di Firenze (Florence Botanical Gardens) is a botanical garden in Florence that is being maintained by the University of Florence. It is also called as the “Garden of Simples” and is open on the weekday mornings. It’s the third oldest garden in Europe which was established on 1st December 1545 by Cosimo I de 'Medici who was the Grand Duke of Tuscany.

In the Orto Botanico di Firenze garden, the prime interest was in planting medicinal plants.
