The Piazza della Signoria is the center of political life in the city of Florence having the Palazzo Vecchio right in its front. It is a square of L-shape which holds many glorious symbols of the whole city. The piazza was built in the 14th century and since then represents the political power of Florence. This square is visited by numerous tourists that visit the Uffizi gallery and Ponte Vecchio.

Palazzo Vecchio overlooks the Piazza della Signoria square with the adjacent Loggia dei Lanzi gallery of statues. Loggia dei Lanzi is a gallery of open-air sculpture consisting of wide arches. Many Florentines as well as tourists are attracted towards these wide arches and it was also suggested that the Piazza della Signoria square should consists of these arches all over. Below the Loggia dei Lanzi’s arches, there are various beautiful and attractive sculptures. The design of Palazzo Uguccioni is attributed to Michelangelo, Raffaello da Montelupo or Raphael. Palazzo Uguccioni on the Piazza della Signoria is among the palaces of the Renaissance period.
Tribunale della Mercanzia Palace was used by the lawyers of the past to judge between the merchant’s trails. In this building, there was a painted porch, but now the porch is kept safely in the Uffizi gallery of Florence. This square symbolizes the power and greatness of renaissance centuries with being the central square of the Roman town. While entering the square you can find a copy of Michelangelo’s David and many statues or sculptures like the Fountain of Neptune, Medici Lions, Hercules and Cacus.
