Inside the Church of Santa Maria del Carmine (1268-1474), the chapel was constructed around 1422 and features the famous frescoes by Masaccio, Masolino, and Filippino Lippi; among these works are the Expulsion from Paradise and il Pagamento del Tributo by Masaccio, two works studied closely by other great artists like Michelangelo and Raphael. Massacio is considered to be an innovator for his use of light and perspective, but above all he was a great artist for his technique, which is always based on realism.
